meeting 2: 2/4/10

To recap and fill in for the members who could not make it, Timothy Hendon came to the meeting to talk to us about SGA. He is part of SGA and became concerned about how SGA uses their money, especially connected to the budget cuts. He saw that there were many flaws with their allocations and tried to do something about it. He tried to change things for the better, and the people in charge of SGA did not want to compromise. They discriminated against him, humiliated him, and stigmatized the idea of change. This was really great to hear because of SSA's plan to speak out against the budget cuts. We also talked about how the Study Abroad program cut the scholarships given to students in half, even though they have not seen any budget cuts to their department. We encouraged the importance of attending the State of the University Address this Monday, where members of SGA, and the President of Southeastern spoke to the student body about their cut backs and ideas for this semester.
